Hall of Scoops will dole out its latest creation called Purple Pig Tales ice cream from 2-4 p.m. on Aug. 31 at its 14 S. Greeley Ave. location.
In addition to a book reading by Jean Van Leeuwen, the book festival will also feature air-brushed tattoos by Kiwi Country Day Camp, balloon-twisting and purple hair extensions, or “pigtails,” by Cathy’s Hair Room.
Hall of Scoops concocted its purple and white-swirled cotton candy ice cream with rainbow confetti after getting the permission and guidance from Van Leeuwen, the award-winning author of the “Oliver and Amanda Pig” children’s series. Portions of the proceeds of Purple Pig Tales benefit the Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival’s literacy partner JCY-Westchester Community Partners
The organization will play host to its third annual book festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Robert E. Bell Middle School, 50 Senter St., Chappaqua, when more than 85 authors participate in the afternoon.
